Wife, Mummy, Nurse: Memorial Day Festivities

Memorial Day Festivities

One of my favorite blogs is Alicia's Homemaking.  I like it for a few reasons.  It's written by a SAHM who was working as a full time nurse before having a child.  Now she stays at home full time.  Sounds vaguely familiar.  Doesn't it?  Every Thursday, she has a blog hop entitled "Try New Adventures Thursday."  This will be my first Thursday venturing over and linking to her blog.

My in-laws were in town over the weekend and left on Tuesday.  On Monday, May 30, 2011, we (my husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and I) decided to go see some of the memorials in Washington, D.C.  A stones throw away from our apartment.  I got Charis out of bed around 10:30PM shortly before going.  We were able to see the WWII Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Korean War Memorial.  Unfortunately, my camera battery died after the WWII Memorial, so I don't have many pictures.

It was so muggy.  I would recommend that if you decide to see the monuments at night, you take bug spray and a fully charged camera battery.  I also suggest trying to go when it's not so hot and humid.  It was AT LEAST in the high 80s.  Thankfully, Charis was a trooper.  Towards the end, she started getting cranky and was only quiet if somebody was pushing her stroller.

  1. Stopping by from TNAT.

Fun. Hubby's cousin used to live in Washington DC, but they moved to Thailand for his wife's work. I have a friend whose daughter's name is Charis too. =) Thanks for the tips on the spray. I'll have to remember that if we ever head out that way.

  2. What fun! Thanks for linking up for the 1st time. :)

It's been years since I've been to DC (aside from driving through in '09), and I'd love to go again. But maybe when it's cool! :D

  3. I'm following you from the Green Mama Blog Hop! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and being a follower. :) So glad you linked up this week!

    Have a wonderful day,
    The Little Hedgehog

  4. Also coming by from TNAT. Sounds like a fun adventure, and great tips. I've only been to DC once and it was about 11 years ago, would love to go back.

  5. I haven't been to DC since I was 12, and it was the dead heat of summer when we went. It was so hot and muggy, and we had to walk everywhere. I thought I would die! But I would like to go again someday :)

  6. What a cutie!

    Following you on GFC!

    Stop by anytime!
