Wife, Mummy, Nurse: Owl Cable Hat {Yarn Along}

Owl Cable Hat {Yarn Along}

Last week, I posted photographs of the owl cable hat I knit.  I thought I was finished, but also mentioned I didn't like that the hat became tighter when the owls were knit.  Thankfully, my friend Lisa, suggested I try blocking the hat using a balloon.  Why didn't I think of that?  I had heard of it being done before, but it had slipped my mind.

On Friday, I asked Drew to buy me balloons on his way home from work.  When he got home, I blew up the balloon approximately the size an infant's head would be, placed the hat around the balloon, and sprayed water on the hat.  Less than 24 hours went by and it was completely dried.  I took the hat off and saw it worked!!

Hat after it was blocked-much more pleased with it now!!
I had planned on knitting a soaker for my friend, but I did not pick up any needles since last Wednesday.  It's been so lovely outside, that I've taken Charis out any chance I could get.  I also had to be at the hospital on Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday which meant spare time was spent cleaning, cooking, trying to get rest for my shift, and studying since I had to renew my ACLS {on Friday} and BLS {on Tuesday}.  My plan is to knit the soaker this week.

This week, I'm planning on reading From Forgiven to Forgiving by Jay E. Adams.  I think I'll just read a chapter/day along with reading the Bible for my devotions.

What are you reading and knitting/crocheting this week?
Join as at Ginny's Yarn Along.

For your information, I'm also planning on participating
in the 3rd Annual Knitting and Crochet Blog Week
23rd-29th April 2012.

  4. Gotta love anything by Jay Adams. :) So glad to hear that the blocking on the owl hat worked! Will be checking out the knit and crochet week as it sounds like fun.

    I'm still working on a few WIPs (son's vest, slippers for my DIL, and a scarf for my SIL), and I'm happy to report that I finished my DDs lacy red scarf. I didn't share a photo today; that will have to wait.

    Blessings to you,

    Lisa :)
