Toilet Paper Roll Christmas Tree Topper Tutorial {#FreeFromTrash}

I love listening to Christmas music, especially in July.  When I saw today's #FreeFromTrash prompt {toilet paper roll}, I immediately knew what I was going to make-a Christmas Tree Topper.  Drew and I do not have one.  We've only had one small tree, and it would have been too small to bear the weight of a tree topper.  I decided to make the topper look like a soldier.

What you need:

  • Toilet Paper Roll
  • Construction paper/scrapbook paper-red, black, and cream.
  • Scissors/paper cutting board
  • Glitter {Optional}
  • Measuring tape {Optional}
  • Marker {Optional}

Directions:
1. Cut red construction paper. 6 1/2 inches X 2 1/2 inches.
2. Cut black construction paper 2 1/2 in. X 1/2 in.
3. Glue black construction paper onto red construction paper and glue onto toilet paper roll.
{See example below}.
Black strip glued onto red construction paper.
4. Cut cream construction paper 6 1/2 in. X 1 1/2 in.  Glue onto toilet paper roll, above the red/black.
5. Cut black construction paper 6 1/2 in. X 1 1/4 in.  Glue onto toilet paper roll, directly above cream paper.
6. Draw eyes and mouth on cream to make a face.
7. Spread glue on the top black strip and sprinkle glitter on it.

What have you made with toilet paper rolls?
