Wife, Mummy, Nurse: Market Bag {Yarn Along}

Market Bag {Yarn Along}

Once again, I have discovered why I never finish knitting projects as soon as I like. It's because before they're over, I start another one.  A girl from church is having a bridal shower on Saturday, and I'm knitting her a market bag and will be filling it with a bottle of wine, chocolate, salt, spices, and a recipe for bread.  This wedding gift idea is mostly from It's a Wonderful Life:
Bread... that this house may never know hunger.
Salt... that life may always have flavor.
And wine... that joy and prosperity may reign forever.
The knitting is very easy and monotonous, which works nicely because I can watch Downton Abbey or Call the Midwife while I knit a few rows before picking up another project.  On a side note, I'm trying not to be jealous of my friends and family over in Northern Ireland and Scotland who are able to watch season 3 of Downton Abbey; I'll try to wait patiently until January 2013.

What are you knitting or reading?

  1. This looks great. Currently not knitting but lots of crochet projects in the works. I actually like having a couple since the simple ones can get monotonous. Sounds like a lovely gift.

  2. What a great shower gift!

    It's also nice to hear a trusted review of Downton Abbey (here and on Facebook)...I've started becoming interested.

  3. The bag looks really pretty, and I love that idea for a shower gift!

  4. I love this gift idea! Did you come up with this on your own? Love the line from "It's a Wonderful Life" by the way. One of my favorite movies. :)
