Wife, Mummy, Nurse: Aran Sweater and Brigid Socks {Yarn Along}

Aran Sweater and Brigid Socks {Yarn Along}

On Friday, Charis and I went to a local consignment sale that happens biannually. While there, I noticed an Aran sweater made out of 100% merino wool that was made in Ireland being sold for $3. I jumped at it. I'd easily spend $50+ on one over in Ireland. It looks brand new-no stains. It is still a bit big for Charis, but it would look so cute with one of my childhood kilts that my mum has kept. Seeing this sweater reminded me of the cardigans and jumpers my granny would knit for me growing up. My mum knit an Aran sweater for Charis for Christmas one year. I know this is not knitting, but it is wool related.

I'm still knitting the Brigid socks. I'm at the same point in both socks {further along than this picture shows}. They are slowly coming along.

I'm reading Extravagant Grace by Barb Duguid. So far, I LOVE IT! Which isn't surprising. Her husband is the pastor at the church my parents attend, and she and her husband did our pre-marital counseling. I'm only 80 pages into it, but when I read it, I can't put it down. Charis does not allow me to read it too much when she's awake, but when she's asleep, I need to clean, straighten up, etc.

What are you reading or knitting this week?

  1. I so wish I could knit. I have been looking into how to do it on YouTube. I would love to be able to knit a blanket for this baby one day.

  2. Love the sock colors. I have not tried socks yet. I do loom knitting.

  3. I tried to knit a scarf once. I even took a few 'help' classes while pregnant. It just didn't click. Reading though is my thing. So right now, silly as it is, I'm re-reading Harry Potter. :)

  5. I have crocheted hats, scarves, and blankets in the past. I never did get the hang of knitting though. I must admit that I am a little jealous and definitely impressed!
