Reading The BFG to Charis and myself. Growing up, this was one of my favorite books, and I read it at least 3 times as a young girl. I recently decided to try to read to Charis while I'm breastfeeding Justin. I realized that I often shooed Charis away when Justin was eating. When she started saying, "You're talking to me. Justin's not happy." I realized what I was doing was not always good. I decided if she wants to stay around, I would read to her, since she likes being read to and that's one time I am able to sit down for an extended period of time.
Listening to the sound of the air conditioner.
Watching Despicable Me.
Thankful for a God who
- Watches our children at all times
- Never sleeps
- Is in control of all things
Today while Charis was resting, she was quiet, but sometimes being quiet is not always a good thing. I went in the room to get her up from her nap, and I found a hair clip in an electrical outlet-attached to a key ring and hair ties {see picture below}. I flipped out and told Charis to go sit on the couch. Meanwhile, I checked the breaker {thank God it was off}, tried to remove the clip {but was not able to remove it}, became emotional and panicked, and called my husband. My heart was definitely racing. We're thankful Charis was kept safe and that our place did not catch on fire. When Drew asked Charis, "What happened when you put the clip in the outlet?" She replied, "There were sparks."
I'm thankful for the time Charis, Justin, and I were able to spend at the park tonight. My mama bear instincts came out, but that might be a story for another time.
