Humble Pie #Yarn Along

Knitting at the park.
Last week, I had greats hopes that my daughter's cardigan would be finished by this week... but, I only knit 4 rows since last week. Why? I prefer my sleep over knitting. My son was teething A LOT last week. If Charis and Justin nap at the same time, I think, "Hallelujah. Thank you God." Then, I nap myself. Plus, Drew gets home late, so I try to stay up and talk to him for at least a few minutes. Tiredness=Less productivity in knitting.

Thinking about {or trying not to worry} the lease we plan on signing tomorrow. We found a slightly bigger apartment! It's less than two blocks away from our current place, has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and is a month to month lease. One of our fears with finding another place was signing a year long lease, especially with Drew being so close to being finished with his PhD. We didn't want to sign something that would tie our hands into being hear over the next year, assuming Drew was able to find a full time job elsewear after being finished.

Funkins #Review #Giveaway

I hate being wasteful. At home, we use the cloth napkins that were given to us 5 years ago for as a wedding gift. They are well loved, but just plain boring blue. There are times I would love to use something brighter. Enter Funkins.

The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter #Knitting #YarnAlong

I finally feel like The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter is coming along. I usually get bored with the stockinette stitch, but since I'm only able to knit a few rows here and there, I don't find myself tiring of it like I usually do. I did not finish it for Charis's birthday like I wanted to, but I hope to have it cast off by next week.

Thinking about how time flies! Charis is 4. It seems like it was yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital. I did not get any sleep the first night and cried at least 3 different times with my mum. Oh what lack of sleep and crazy hormones will do.

Yesterday was her birthday. She had a delightful day: woke up and we told her, "Happy birthday!" She started twirling around, dancing, jumping up and down. Grandma, Grandpa, and J. {her 2 1/2 year old cousin} surprised Charis by coming out to celebrate her birthday. In fact, she is with her grandparents and cousin now.

Ups and Downs of my Crazy Life {Coffee Date}

Life has been crazy, watching and interacting with my two children. Both demanding and pulling my attention. With an infant, it's sometimes easy to forget the older child. Thankfully, Charis has been dealing well with the change.

Still knitting... #YarnAlong #Knitting

I'm still knitting The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter. Normally, I get bored with the stockinette stitch, but these days I should not knit a pattern where I need to pay close attention. During the day when I knit, I'm either interupted by my threenager or my 3 month old. At night, my eyes are wanting to close because I'm tired.

Thinking about an update on our housing situation is that there's nothing to report. We've looked at three different places and decided not to pursue them for various reasons. For two of the apartments, Drew's commute to work would have been 20-25 minutes longer. The other apartment, the location was not the best, plus there was no laundry in the building. We're still looking and praying for a different place to live.

My baby is three months old today!! Time has flown by so fast, and he's already in 6 month clothes. Charis still loves him, but she dropped him the other day. Thankfully, he was less than 6 inches off the ground and did not hit any hard surfaces going down. He immediately started crying-a good sign, and I swooped him up and nursed him which solved all his troubles.

The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter #Knitting #YarnAlong

I have not been knitting as much recently. I choose to "blame it on":
1. Summertime. I'd rather be at the park with my son and daughter.
2. My baby. Though, he's cute and cuddly.
3. My daughter. She constantly asks me to read to her.

Charis LOVES the park. Yesterday, she wanted to show
mama and Justin how to drive.

How to Avoid Supplementing with Formula #Breastfeeding #Giveaway

Yesterday, I wrote about the time my son had formula supplementation and went to the ER because he had not peed in over 24 hours. For various reasons, I decided to avoid supplementing Justin with more formula. He was peeing, and I was keeping a much closer eye on his outputs, which were in acceptable range. The next few days after he received formula, he seemed mad.

May 16: The Day My Son Had Formula

After Charis was born, I was so tired and exhausted from staying up all night long the first few nights that I secretly wanted to grab the Similac {a free sample sent to us in the mail} out of the cupboard and give it to her. Thankfully, we did not have any bottles or nipples.

The last few weeks of my pregnancy with Justin I told my husband, "Hide the formula from me and do NOT get it for me. No matter how desperate I seem." He did as I requested.

On May 16, I call Drew, crying, and tell him, "You need to come get the formula and feed Justin." Needless to say, my husband was shocked, and asked, "Why?"
