Felted Baby Yoda Hat #YarnAlong #Knitting

This year, I plan on taking Charis and Justin trick or treating, but I refuse to pay tons of money on a costume. So, I decided to knit part of their costumes. I bought some green wool yarn at a Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft store a few years ago. I decided to knit a Felted Baby Yoda Hat for my son. He'll wear green pants, a long sleeve white onesie, and the yoda hat. Out of pocket money spent on his costume = <$2

10/8: I cast on 72 stitches. K1P1 for 1 1/2 inches.
10/9: Knit until 6.5 inches from cast on edge. In order to make hat less pointy, round 1 started decreasing 6 stitches/row {Knit 10 K2tog}.
10/13: Cast off today. Right now it’s in the washer starting the felting process. I hope it felts down enough. The circumference is 24 inches, and it’s 12 inches from the cast on edge to the peak of the hat.
10/14: After washing, It felted nicely, but it's still a wee bit big on Lil' J. I threw it into the washer again tonight. Hopefully, it will felt even more, but not shrink too much.
What are you knitting or reading?

  2. I love that little hat! Our son is going as an Ewok, using a bear outfit we inherited and then draping a brown tshirt over it.

  3. Cute! Is Charis going Stars Wars themed too? That's what the boys are doing, I was tempted to do the yoda hat for Amelia, but couldn't bring myself to do anything that isn't girlie now that I finally have a girl :)

  6. This is sooooo cute! I have never tried a felted project, do you like doing them? Find it more difficult than your typical knitted project?

  7. That'a adorable! I actually never thought about felting a beanie before, maybe I should give it a try :) And I know this is for a baby hat, but I'm thinking about maybe making one for my sister, who's a big Star Wars fan :)
