Wife, Mummy, Nurse: Halloween

01 November 2014

Yesterday was Halloween: it was my daughter's first time trick or treating-or in our case trunk or treating. In the past, we have never gone trick or treating. Charis's first three Halloweens were spent at our church Reformation party. Last year, we did not have a Reformation party, but I was in Pennsylvania, at my parents' house on Halloween.

This was the first year we did not have any other obligations. The last few weeks I have been "slaving" away on my child's costumes. Okay, I joyfully knit them.

Lil' J was Yoda. Unfortunately, I did not get any pictures of him while we were out last night; he slept the whole time in the baby carrier. But yesterday afternoon, we went to our local Family Christian Store for their Veggie Tales event.

Since Charis had no clue what Halloween was, I made an executive decision that she would go as Hello Kitty. I know she would loved to have gone as Anna or Elsa, but so many other girls would go as them. She received a Hello Kitty shirt for her birthday, so I decided to knit her a kitty hat and sew her a skirt using Hello Kitty fabric. At most, I paid $5 out of pocket on her costume. The yarn used to knit the hat was from my stash; yarn from previous projects.

Dressed up as a Larry at Family Christian Stores #fcveggies event.

After Charis ate her hot dog at the Trunk or Treat at a local church.
How was your Halloween?

  1. Cute costumes :)
We missed trick-or-treat this year because of bronchitis, but the kids had fun passing out candy at the door!

  2. You did great! I am not the least big crafty, you are so lucky to have those skills!

  3. I love that her costume can be used year-round!

  4. I love the idea of knitting hats to use for costumes! I always try to make costumes out of hoodies so that my daughter can continue to wear them all year round as fun sweatshirts!
