Wife, Mummy, Nurse: Mary Kay Hearts Together Lipstick

Mary Kay Hearts Together Lipstick

One of my friends, Bobbie, has breast cancer. When I was 10 years old, we moved from Iowa to Pennsylvania. My mum was hired to teach 2nd graders at a Christian school. Bobbie was the 7th and 8th grade teacher at that school. At the end of the day, I often went to her classroom just to talk to her. I asked her questions such as, "Are you married? Do you have children? Where did you go to school? What's your favorite book?" She was very patient with me, and answered every single question. When I was in 9th grade, I had her as a classical literature teacher, until the end of January. She went on maternity leave because she was pregnant and had a few more weeks left before her daughter was born.

A few months ago, Bobbie put a request up on Facebook. She was selling Beauty That Counts® Mary Kay® Creme Lipstick, Hearts Together as a fundraiser to help cover her expenses. For each lipstick purchased, part of the proceeds go towards women's shelters and ending domestic violence.

Swatched on the arm.
When my daughter came back from Pennsylvania, she carried the lipstick in her suitcase to give to me. Of course she did not remember to give it to me. Charis came back in June, and a week later, as we were cleaning the bedroom, I emptied the rest of Charis's suitcase? Guess what I found in the front pocket. That's right the lipstick from your fundraiser. When I found it, the little goose said, "Oh, that's from Granny. Mrs. Van Til gave it to her." I immediately stopped cleaning, opened the lipstick, and tried it on.

This lipstick is one of my new favorite things. It's perfect for those with lighter skin, which is ME!!! I like how it does not feel tacky on my lips. It adds the right amount of color, especially for daytime use.

What's your new favorite thing? What's your favorite lip stick? My new favorite thing. This post was written as one of the prompts for the summer blogging challenge by Social Insiders.

  1. I love matte nudes! I have big lips and many freckles, so I try not to accentuate too much! Anyway, this is such a sweet story. I love finding misplaced goodies!

  2. I love the peachy nudes. the more natural colors

  3. I am not really a lipstick person but since this is for charity I would definitely purchase. We are our brothers' keeper

  4. What a great way to raise money for a worthy cause. My new favorite thing is grape tea!

  5. Thanks for sharing that personal story. I would surely purchase something that genuinely is for a cause.
